Another name added to the ever growing and fast rising delivery outlets of Gurgaon. Dilli Darbar comes into picture with a range of classic Mughlai delicacies – tikkas, kebabs, curries and biryani. I sampled a few of their non-vegetarian dishes – haryali chicken tikka, mutton gilafi kebab, chicken biryani, chicken curry, dal makhni, laccha parantha and pudina parantha.
The order was slightly late but considering how maddening the traffic scene is during evenings, that can be over looked. The packaging however could really be improved upon. I had to put the kebabs into spare disposable containers I had to prevent the kebabs and biryani from leaking and spilling. (and photography purposes too!) Also, I asked for smaller portions, which they gladly obliged, so what you see is not the real portion they serve.
Starting with the haryali chicken tikka – the chicken could have had a slightly better marination, but other was pretty decent.
The mutton gilafi kebab was brilliant – succulent, melt in the your mouth, creamy seekh kebabs were very delish.
The chicken dum biryani – the biryani was more pertinent to the Delhi streets rather than being a traditional dum biryani. Spicy with whole spices and grilled chicken pieces. The chicken again could have been a lot more tender and juicier.
Chicken curry was very lipsmacking and flavorsome. The dal makhni – rick, creamy and ambrosial. The breads deserve a special mention for their on point freshness.
What to order from Dilli Darbar? Their Dal makhni is gold and don’t miss on their mutton gilafi seekh kebab. They could however, tone down the amount of oil their use and work on their packaging.
