Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver opened his first Jamie’s Pizzeria outlet in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon, followed by Jamie’s Italian in Vasant Kunj. They are now all set to open a second Pizzeria outlet in Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden, as a treat to West Delhi residents.
Located on the third floor, the place is very well planned. Divided into two parts with rustic door frames hung from the ceiling.
The seating area bathed with sunlight – the view outside was not very picturesque but the interiors made up for it. A stunning chalk drawing of all the major Delhi landmarks – the raw texture of the wall kind of poetically adds depth to the piece of art.
Simple, no fuss furniture, menu cards that double as table mats, top-notch cutlery and decent seasoning. We ordered a portion of the much talked about hand-stretched garlic bread and a courgette pomodoro.
The garlic bread was extra-ordinary. Freshly baked bread topped with olive oil and rosemary was very sumptuous and very unlike any garlic bread that is served in Delhi Italian joints – soft, crunchy and very fragrant. The dip that was served alongside – crushed tomatoes and olive tapenade. The dip enhanced the flavours of the garlic bread exponentially.
The courgette pomodoro is among one of the most off-beat pizzas I have come across. The toppings are fantastic – yellow zucchini, rosemary, crispy potatoes, parsley, crushed tomatoes and cheese. The crust was hand tossed and baked to perfection – the softness of the crust and the crispy sides. In fact, I enjoyed munching the sides with the tapenade accompanying the garlic bread.
Head to Jamie’s Pizzeria for some serious Italian Action.
