DAO – Thai, sushi, dimsum

Located at the more plush and quiet GK 1, N Block market, Dao is a pristine Thai, sushi and dimsum place with a beautiful glass wall  overlooking the street, hand painted jars and Chinese tea pots framed, wood carvings and beautifully dressed tables. Dao boasts of on point Thai food, fresh sushi and dimsums to kill for.

Start with their coolers to cool you down – the mint and ginger cooler is impeccable. Also try their kiwi cooler for a real thirst quencher.

Start with a Yam Som O fruit salad – a pomelo fruit salad in a sweet and sour dressing tossed with onions and topped with burnt garlic. The salad is super refreshing, ideal for summers and the burnt garlic flavor was delectable.

Sushi – we tried an assortment of their vegetarian and meaty best. Wasabi roll – apple, avocado, cucumber diced and rolled up topped with mayo and cashews. Yasai tempura roll – sweet potato, carrots and asparagus crunchy fried and topped with some more mayo. EBI tempura and soft shell crab tempura roll – fresh meats rolled up nicely, soak up in some soy and wasabi and you are sorted.

Bokchoy and tofu dumpling, vegetable chive dumpling, glass dumpling with five treasure and kenya beans dumpling. The skins were crystal and the all veggie stuffings super crunchy and tantalizing. Shanghai chicken dumplings, chicken and prawn sui mai, spicy chicken dumpling and chicken and chive dumpling. Well steamed, crystal clear, slightly sticky and super satiating meats.

Taohu Tord Sam Rod – crispy silken tossed tofu with crushed burnt garlic and tossed with bell pepper and spring onions and topped with a sticky sauce.

Phad See Ew – Thai stir fried noodles topped with peanuts paired with a healthy green version with beans, flat beans, spinach and lots of burnt garlic (because it makes everything much better, doesn’t it!)

Chocolate lava cake and coconut ice cream rounded up our already round bellies to take us to an ultimate satiation. The gooey centre of the lava cake should have been a tad more gooey though.

Dao for some delectable Thai and dimsums set against the chic interiors.
