Freakshakes have a new address at Super Mart 1. Cafe Alberto is the latest addition with its pale printed wallpaper, leather couches, a tiny outside seating area and a huge mirror metastasizing the general space.
Start with a batch of their complimentary bruschettas – two crispy pieces of bread, topped with black bean peas tossed in a saucy tomato sauce, dribbles of melted cheese and herbs. The bread was rather dry and could have done with a lot more fervour.
Mixed sauce chicken pasta – it is not technically on the menu but the chef whipped it out for us. The penne was a tad over cooked, but the sauce is well balanced with the flavoursome tomato and creamy texture. Donned with crunchy veggies, the smoked chicken was the highlight of the dish, the chicken was well marinated and herbed and cooked separately to add more zest before being tossed into the pasta. The garlic bread again can go amiss with a morsel too much salt and bottoms too brown.
Garden fresh thin crust pizza – fresh tossed thin crust pizza with crunchy, fresh vegetables, basil, dollops of cheese and a drizzle of liquid cheese. The pizza was pretty good but could have used some more fresh base sauce to make it more toothsome.
Cornetto freakshake – chocolate shake, topped with lot and lots of whipped cream and an upside down cornetto looking majestic with dripping chocolate sauce, crunchies and munchies. The shake in itself could have been thicker but dig in through all the layers and you have a mini orgasm siting in a giant mug.
Cafe Alberto for pasta fare and amazing Freakshakes.
