Tried the much talked about Paradise Biryani in Hyderabad? Well now you can get similar Nawabi flavors close to home – Biryani Paradise is a chain of restaurants across Delhi-NCR serving tantalizing Deccan preparations. With an array of meaty and vegetarian biryanis, tikkas and curries, what puts this place apart is their economical combo meals that not just suffices but also satiates.
Located Across Gurgaon, Noida, Connaught Place and Dwarka, I visited the Dwarka outlet on a Saturday. Located in the heart of Dwarka, this outlet is located on the third floor of the ever bustling Sector 6 market. The place is lined with stained glasses, stained glass bottles, sturdy wooden tables and miniature antiquities.
We ordered a single chicken biryani combo with lemon chicken and double ka meetha; half a portion of Hyderabadi chicken and rotis. Since we had visited the place post lunch – none of the tandoori items were available which kind of bummed us out.
The service made up for the tiny glitch and we were served with a nicely done raita, gravy and onions.
The lemon chicken came in an old school flat tawa. The chicken pieces were succulent and crunchy with subtle lemon zest flavors. The whole garlic added on to the palatable appetizer.
Served in a handi, the chicken biryani was spot on – sapid with saffron and turmeric, the rice were intermingled with subtle flavors. The chicken pieces infused with rice were savory and mild flavored. The chicken pieces could have been a little more tender. However, the biryani made for a beautiful ensemble with the raita and gravy.
The Hyderabadi chicken too was a toothsome affair. Mostly Andhra food is quite high on the spice quotient, but this gravy had a luscious texture and a slight sweetness provided by the brown onions. The chicken pieces could have been a little more tender but the gravy covered up for it.
We rounded up the meal with a traditional dessert – Double ka Meetha – shahi tukda – soft bread pieces dipped in cardamom and saffron flavored milk.
The combos are very affordable and the quantity is more than enough for two even in the Single’s combo. The Lemon Chicken is most recommended.
