Tucked away in the midst of skyscrapers, corporate offices and mounds of cement is a hidden gem of a place – IMPROMPTU – with a smashing outdoor seating area and a lavish insides. A very rustic themed place with bunker lunch tables and intermingling light fixtures outside and the inside with plush couches, toned down lighting and the big glass walls and gorgeous greens adding to the decor.
They boast of a huge buffet menu with a range of vegetarian and meaty snacks, salad bar, make your own pasta station, North Indian Main course and desserts.
We started with soups – minestrone and chicken tom yum along with a bread basket assortment. The soups were decent, the tom yum was mostly chicken broth but the minestrone was simmered to a creamy and yummy with the freshly done bread sticks and dinner rolls.
The vegetarian appetizers included spring rolls, assortment of sweet chilly vegetables, hara bhara kebab. The spring rolls with the thin layering were amazing as was the crunchy, slightly sweet garden assortment. The paneer tikka was the soft stopper here, a palatable preparation with just the right amount of smoky aroma.
Non vegetarian – mutton seekh kebab, chicken tikka, malai chicken tikka, fish in crumb and sweet chilli fish. The meat were extremely fresh and very well done, what stood out of the lot was the sweet chilly fish. Soft, lightly coated and tossed to a savory whip.
Salad – The extensive salad bar lets you choose your favorite greens and meat – we built ourselves one with crunchy peanuts, bell pepper, olives and shredded chicken.
We also got our hands on their spaghetti bolognaisse. Spaghetti done al dente to a delish crunch and tossed with flavorsome bolognaise meaty sauce and garnished with parmesan cheese. A very toothsome preparation indeed.
Main Course – the main course spread includes the classic dal makhani, kadhai chicken, paneer, gobhi and Chinjabi classics – hakka noodles and vegetables in hot garlic sauce. You can order your breads to be served hot on your table. Worth a mention is their succuent kadhai chicken.
Desserts are the binge-worthy corner of any buffet spread. On my plate was the chocolate brownie, strawberry pastry, black forrest pastry and pineapple mousse. Like any other buffet menu too, this spread was not all frills, the only dessert that made a mark was the creamy and fresh pineapple mousse.
Impromptu is the perfect escape from the mundane and their buffets are quite the talk of the town. I do wish they had included their signature pizzas in their otherwise brilliant buffet. Don’t miss out their salad bar and beautifully done pastas.
