Mahabelly has been on my never-ending wish list for forever now. This Coastal restaurant is one of the few that serves authentic Keralite including delicious curries in a fine sit-down set up with cool posters juxtaposed with a very traditional Keralite backdrop.
Quick lunch at Mahabelly
Starving, we were quick to order a chicken stew, mutton roast, and a bunch ofMalabar paranthas. The chicken stew is a slow cooked thick gravy simmered and cooked with coconut milk, the freshest blend of spices and fresh coriander leaves. Mutton roast is a thicker gravy with a spicy tomato and onion gravy and crunchy curry leaves. The meats in both the curries, however, were slightly tougher than usual. Pair with the flaky and buttery paranthas, a tad more crispiness and the paranthas would have been gold.
Their coastal range is most enviable and I simply cannot go back to try some more of their delectable offerings. Appam next time 🙂
