The Swinton House

Swinton House is one of the most Instagrammable restaurants in Jaipur and one of the newest in the city! A sprawling bungalow, an eclectic mix of traditional Rajasthani prints, quirky pop art, and splashed bold colours with a variety of PDRs. Like an old school house, there are different rooms, a speakeasy bar on the first floor, a beautiful courtyard, a gentlemen’s cave, and a women’s boudoir. The cocktail menu is a mix of re-imagined classics and originals inspired by local flavours. Roger Rob, the milk clarified bourbon, absinthe, and orgeat cocktail with a bite of Kit Kat was one of my absolute favourites.
The menu is lavish – from Indian fusions, to Asian delicacies. The Paneer mousse nest is one of their signatures. And even though it looks stunning, the pickled kataifi nest topped with mascarpone tikka mousse is truly unique. They have chaat, dumplings, salads, and the most amazing Egyptian fettirs!
Must haves – Orgeat, paneer mousse nest, fettir

Royal Root

Rich, royal, fine dine! The in-house restaurant of InterContinental, Jaipur, the warm hospitality and the nuanced flavours make this meal truly a special experience. The menu is a mix of North-Indian favourites and traditional Rajasthani. The Galauti kebab were melt in your mouth goodness, served with warqi parantha. The badami shorba was as soulful as it can get. But the curries and mains were front and centre. Chulhe ka shikaar, a lost recipe, slow cooked with wild meat and whole spices. Traditional laal maas, and murgh shekhawati, both authentic Rajasthani recipes. Big props for the piping hot bread basket. Oftentimes, we tend to dismiss these small things, but the bread basket was not just served hot, but it remained so as we dug into our meal!!
Must haves – Mutton galauti, Chulhe ka shikaar

THE Johri

Located in the heart of Bapu Bazaar, reaching Johri is not an easy feat. But the walk is completely worth it! Johri is every bit the Instagrammable restaurant as it is charming! A bar program set by the best in the industry, housed in a restored Kothi. The all-vegetarian Indian restaurant, serves absolutely delicious modern Indian food. But the cocktails – fat washed, clarification, infusions, and all that jazz – yet there is something very rooted and uncomplicated about the drinks.
Must have – Nazariya, Inverted Negroni, Burrata Makahani

Paro

This relatively new restaurant overlooks the bustle of the city – housed in an old-time building, with completely modern interiors, Paro retains its old world charm. The bar is beautiful and the open seating is complete with the original domes. The food is a good mix of hearty bites to fusion favourites. The drinks are not complicated but perfect for easy drinking! The highlight is the vibe and their Parle-G Tiramisu!
Must have – Parle G Tiramisu, Naanza

Spice Court

This iconic Rajasthani restaurant has been around for years now! And yet is every bit Instagrammable. Starting from its beautiful garden out front with pink bougainvillea flowers in bloom. To those incredible rifles and black and white portraits of Rajasthani and British Royalty on the Polo field. They serve the authentic Rajasthani Laal Maas, but the Keema Baati is the specialty here! A round, roasted ball of dough, stuffed with spicy, minced meat, served with a spicy curry!
Must have : Keema Baati
