Lunching at Delhi Club House

Delhi Club House has been on my wishlist for quite some time now. Being a religious follower of NDTV Goodtimes, I used to follow Chef Marut Sikka’s “Lock, Stock and Two Smokin Tikkas” and I and dad have tried so many of his recipes. The best part would always be, what we cooked at home turned out exactly the same as it looked on-screen. No fluffed up secret ingredients. And I have been a fan, ever since. Delhi Club House brings food from the length and breadth of the country’s member-only clubs and creates one hell of a menu against a very colonial old school vibe.

Starting off

With lots of light flowing in, white curtains and a series of black and white old school frames, we started with the Crispy spinach and yogurt chaat – crunchy spinach leaves dunked in cool yogurt and topped with mint and tamarind chutney. Fish Finger Orly –  batter fried fish fingers, masala fries, mayo and tartar sauce.

Our mains

Railway mutton currya very homely mutton curry, saffron rice, mini papad rolls, onions, and mirchi. The railway mutton curry is blended with light coconut milk and curry leaves with boneless, succulent mutton pieces. The flavorsome saffron rice combination and mutton curry made for a very hearty meal. Paneer do pyaza, black dal, naan – soft paneer cubes in a thick and toothsome gravy with thick onions and capsicums. Teamed with soft butter naans, this classic combo never goes wrong. Khow Suey – this has become one of my favorite meals, steamed noodles, a thick coconut laden gravy, and the DIY condiments. This one too was perfect in terms of all the nitty gritties.

The portion sizes are only good for one and so a little steep when it comes to the price point. My absolute recommendation has to be the fish finger orly!
