Long standing favourite – HKV Social

I vividly remember my first visit to Hauz Khas Social – the huge co-working space, view of the Hauz Khas fort and the super, super cool vibe. A lot of places have since adapted or tried to adapt the same sensibilities. The rustic brick walls, lots of sunlight and the killer view although unparalleled, I have always preferred Odeon Social when it comes to food. With newbies on the menu, we took a walk down the memory lane.

We started with super hot Momos from Hell – huge, juicy dumplings stuffed with chicken, topped with red chilly paste, chilly flakes and green chillies. The hottest momos ever are sure to knock your socks off!

Social Cheese Melt with Bacon – grilled sandwich with cheese and smoky bacon topped with cheese melt, thick cut fries and stacked in one of their signature towers. I have always loved the bacon that Social serves – just the right balance of chewy and smoky and the effortlessness with which they do the simplest of dishes.

Social Chhatt became notoriously famous for its desi grub and some of the favorites trickled downstairs and to other outlets. Black label butter chicken is so delectable and the tikkas are perfect for Delhi winters. What most interested me was the pizza – a hand-tossed thin crust, lots of cheese and mutton keema bolognese topped with fresh parsley. Absolutely delicious.

Butter chicken biryani – a flavorsome biryani with succulent pieces of chicken drowsed in butter chicken gravy, caramelized onions and cashew nuts. Served with cool raita and fryums, the butter chicken biryani is as flavorsome as ever with hints of saffron and so satiating.

Hauz Khas Social keeps up even after years of being on the block and is just as good. They are opening Social Chhatt soon again so stay tuned for that.
