Traditional plates at The Potbelly

The Potbelly Rooftop Cafe is one of its kind cafe in Delhi dishing out some delicious and homely Bihari food. They have expanded and have booked a spot at Bihar Niwas. The beautiful walkway is lined with greens and bamboos, fairy lights and mini cages. Overlooking the huge garden, and the same vintage feel, this outlet sees a calmer crowd and is more of a subtle eatery.
Started with the classic Meat Pakora Basket and Aloo Lalu Chop. The meat pakora basket comes with chicken and mutton pakoras with a sweeter mint chutney. The crunchy chicken pakoras are very succulent. The mutton ones are more like minced meat patties. Aloo Lalu Chop comes as a platter, a toasted pav, sabu dana vadas, and a spicy aloo chop topped with sattu and crunchy. The chop is super spicy and works well with pav. This place is one of the few that serve sabutdana cutlets and are rather quite yummy.

The mains included some of their favourite plated meals. Dehaati phish and chips – fresh fish, fried with hints of sarson (mustard) which is a very integral part of Bihari cooking. The phataka fries are most interesting with thick cut fries tossed in a saucy tomato gravy, diced capsicums and spring onions. Makhana Thali – Makhana and matar ki sabzi, palak puris, chokha and chutneys – the makhana sabzi is most interesting. The chokha is absolutely ravishing too. Khada masala chicken – a spicy gravy masala chicken, delectable and served with laccha paranthas, boondi raita and raw salad.

The Potbelly serves delicious meals with a homely touch. Their fish is a must have, phataka fries an absolute delight and the apple lemonade remains a refreshing thirst quencher.
