Have you watched Midnight in Paris and wished dearly that it were you instead of Owen Wilson? Well, I did. And yes I root for the existence of Hogwarts and underground societies and clubs and a culture so immersed in art and magic and books that it is dreamy. Cocktails and Dreams, Speakeasy is just the right place for you if you remotely relate to that.
The term was coined in the 1920s when sale of alcohol was prohibited in America. You would have heard of the term last in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them. Underground saloons serving cocktails mushroomed during 1920-1933. CnD Speakeasy is built on the same lines. Tucked in a regular Gurgaon market, almost impossible to spot unless you know about its existence (Sounds like the Leaky Cauldron doesn’t it?) The underground (quite literally) club is a cozy little place with live music, American favorite nibbles, a gorgeous bar and happy hours that really make you happy.
We started with Appletini and a lemondrop martini – both beautifully prepared drinks with the intermingled flavors and spirits.
Pigs in the blanket – Smoked sausages wrapped in crispy bacon and drizzled over with mustard. The crunchy bacon enveloping the soft sausage was one hell of a bar nibble.
Flaky fried chicken – chicken breasts marinated and coated with cornflakes. Served with a ranch dressing, the crunchy chicken breasts are almost home like but very succulent indeed.
Meat fest flatbread – bacon bits and pork sausage topped with melted cheese brown onions and served with a fresh cut salad. The cheese could have been a little more to make it into a more sinful piece and the onions a little toned down.
So what are you waiting for? Plan an escapade to CnD Speakeasy for some live music, killed cocktails and meat favorites.
