TWIST – Wine and Asian Favs.

TWIST should be your next go to place for wine and some appealing Asian fanfare. Set in the heart of Cyberhub, TWIST is a gorgeous place, dimly lit with an extensive wine collection. The place is done up beautifully with ornate mirrors and textured walls. The outside is done with white high chairs and umberellas giving it a uber cool porch feel. They have one of the finest wine collections and the best part – the wine is very well cared for and not just dreamily displayed.

We started with Orchid mushrooms – crispy stuffed mushrooms with tofu and tossed in a tangy sauce and garlic. The mushrooms were crunchy and delectable.

Crispy calamari – I have always been a sea food person but didn’t quite get the likes of calamari the first time I tried it. Can’t help it that it has started to grow on me now. The crispy, fried rings served with schezwan sauce and tossed with pepper and garlic was pretty good.

Tofu Crunch – priding myself as a hardcore carnivore, I never had an incling towards tofu. Fried, soft tofu, drizzled over with sesame seeds and a slightly cheesy dressing. This was a kickass appetizer.

Asian chicken satay – chicken satay sticks with a tinge of lemongrass and peanut sauce. The satay was succulent but could have has a little more twist.

Shrimp with a twist – flour coated shrimps served with spicy mayo. This is undoubtedly their star dish – fresh shrimps coated with crispy flour and drizzled over with just a little bit honey and sesame seeds. This bite sized entree was a palatable twisted delicacy.

For drinks – Volcano and Cucumber mohito – the mocktails were just about decent.

Sangria, red and white with a twist. Red wine sangria with berries and white wine sangria with pineapple and hazelnut. While the twists to the drinks were absolutely a charming thought, the strong flavors actually took some of the flavors away from the wine.

For dimsums we tried chicken sui mai and spicy Cantonese. Again, this was one those occasions where I liked the vegetarian better than the meat. The spicy Cantonese was a clear, thin skinned with chopped vegetables. The chicken sui mai could use some improvement in terms of the meat and skin both.

Mains – Pokemon Chase – Shitake mushrooms with stir fried bokchoy – a fine mushroom dish laced with a thick sauce and bokchoy flavors balancing the whole thing. I am not sure why it is called Pokemon Chase, but really gotta catch ém all (in to your belly!)

Sun Szechuan chicken and chilly fish laced with exotic ingredients and sauces. Considering they were main course dishes, the amount of sauce should have been substantially more. The meat were both pretty nicely done but the strong flavors kind of got to the raw goodness of the meat.

Chilly garlic noodles – tossed with bell pepper and greens, this was not particularly street chilly but rather a flavorsome version of hakka noodles.

We finished this fine meal with a trio of creme brulee – coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Shattering the perfect sugary crystal layer, we dug into the lightly sweetened flavored custard pots. A biased chocolate lover, I can’t stop raving about their vanilla creme brulee.

Why visit TWIST? A splendid wine collection, some exclusively imported by the restaurant and Asian fanfare with a romantic setting. Don’t miss on Tofu crunch, shrimps with a twist and Pokemon chase. And don’t miss on their creme brulee. It’s pretty darn good.
