Fusion flipped at FLYP@MTV

FLYP@MTV is a sprawling cafe at Connaught place with a gorgeous bar, plush couches and a feet tapping play-list. A huge, plush place with a mix of tables, graffiti, pop prints and an extensive menu. FLYP@MTV gets you going and pepped up in no time.

We started off with the chicken tikka sampler – chicken tikka, malai chicken tikka, chicken tikka bhoot jholakiya and black miso chicken tikka. The four kinds of chicken tikka were delectable, juicy and succulent. The classic, well marinated, the malai, well dowsed with a creamy texture. The bhoot jholakiya chicken tikka, marinated with the ghost chilli is insanely hot and to be tried with caution. The black miso chicken tikka was the best out of the lot for me – a Japanese inspired fusion chicken tikka.

For drinks we started off with Terimaki from Japan and Boom Boom from Thailand. The terimaki – vodka, watermelon and basil – served with wasabi peas. Pop one of the wasabi peanuts and take a sip of the Terimaki and get transported right to Japan.

Boom Boom from Thailand – the drink comes with a mystical effect of dry ice – gin, kafir lime and a strong flavor of cucumber.

They also serve classic cocktails with a FLYP twist. We tried the classic cosmo with a vanilla twist and spiced margarita.

The Biryani Arancini – huge crumbly balls filled with flavorsome lamb keema biryani with fresh salad and sala aioli. The biryani balls were unparalleled – crunchy with a slight cheesy centre.

Galauti kebab with ulte tawe ka parantha each topped with mint chutney. The luscious melt in the mouth mutton galauti were beautiful, enveloped in the ulte tawe ka parantha.

Carrot humus, peeta parathe ko – pita paranthas stuffed with spicy lamb keema and fresh hummus. Toasted pita parantha stuffed with palatable lamb keema and served with one of the freshest hummus preparations. The carrot flavors set in the hummus made the ensembleĀ a very refreshing fusion.

Butterchicken flat bread – dilliwallahs are suckers for butter chicken, and who doesn’t love a perfect slice of pizza. Bring these two together and you have an explosion. I have tried the variation of butter chicken pizza at quite a few places but none were quite upto the mark. This crunchy flat bread topped with oodles of butter chicken gravy and tender shards of chicken and cheese was delicious. But gobble this up hot – as it goes cold the cheese loses its charm.

Kalakand chocolate tart served with saffron ice-cream. Although we were very satiated, we couldn’t help but wipe the plate clean when this lovely dessert. An orgasmic chocolatey end to a beautiful meal.
