Chat up over breakfast at The Chatter House

Breakfast has always been my most favorite meal of the day – many a times ignored, missed, compromised on and craved for. So naturally, I do not miss any opportunity to grab a hearty breakfast even if it means waking up early on a Sunday. The Chatter House has launched a special breakfast menu only during weekends and it’s not to be missed. The red brick cafe has been a favorite since they first opened at Epicuria, Nehru Place. The huge round windows, plush couches and the fresh morning air with a crispiness of the winters – sounds cinematic doesn’t it?

Starting the day we a hot steaming cup of latte to get a kick start.

The Kothu Parantha – a South Indian parantha preparation which is their specialty. Bits of broken fried parantha tossed with chunky chicken keema topped with curry leaves and mustard seeds. The parantha seemed more like a tossed chicken poha to me and was quite an interesting and palatable whip, a tad dry for my palate though.

We next moved on to some classics – Eggs Bennedict. Two poached eggs topped with the creamy hollandaise sauce resting on a piece of smoked ham and a half bun served with hashbrowns, grilled tomato and house salad. The eggs were nicely done and the hollandaise was right on point. The hash browns were a tad bit oily but done to a crisp yumminess. The house salad – very refreshing though.

The Spanish omelette was a special recommendation, we ordered it with some meat sides. A huge, fluffy omelette generously stuffed with bell pepper and diced potatoes, served with rocket leaves and cherry tomatoes. The omelette was very nicely made, but the slight egg smell in the preparation marred the experience a tad bit. The sides were pretty good – crispy smoked bacon, tossed sausages and crispy hash browns.

We ended this lovely feast with their finest crispy waffles topped with diced fruits served with thick chocolate sauce and homemade ice cream. The waffles were perfectly made – crisp on the outside and beautifully soft on the inside – drizzled with oodles of crunchy fruits and chocolate sauce.
