Game of Wines at DiVino

DiVino, is a place like no other – a newly opened Wine Bar & Kitchen which takes you on a medieval journey through a extraordinary offering of food, music, ambience and an excellent wine list from different countries France, Chile, Australia, Italy, Argentina and The United States to name a few. DiVino has a elaborate menu designed by celebrity chef, Chef Saby with cuisines ranging from Mediterranean, Italian, Continental, European and French. The place is definitely like no other and promotes a wine culture which is yet to take up in India. A bold move indeed. This place is also inspired by the popular TV Show Game of Thrones so you would find many elements from the show.

The place is magnanimous, entire 3 floors are DiVino’s with the ground being the fine dining area with a fully-stocked wine bar, plush sofas a neat table layout and plenty of space around the wine stack to admire them, the live music performances on special evenings really sets the mood. The Jazz, country music on the other nights makes the ambience serene.Every corner has something special, the entire place has armory and artifacts from the 19th century.

The first floor is a casual dining place with high stools, comfy seating and a bar, basically like the popular bistro concepts with a DJ. The second floor beautiful, it is an open terrace with firefly lights with a view of the entire area.

We started with the Red Wine Sangria, the rich red color of the wine with soaked fruits and the aroma is what is the specialty here, the fruits are cut and put into the wine 24 hours before serving so that the flavors get infused.

We also had a celebratory drink, The Tyrion Lannister Cocktail which was for the Evening with the Lannisters.

While we are talking about Wines with the manager we were served with Gazpacho, Twice Baked Soufflé and Toasted bread chips. The soufflé was a glimpse of the Chef Saby’s ability. The rich soufflé is so soft it just melts in your mouth and the wine sangria only intensifies the flavor.

Next up was the pull apart Bread with Salsa a classic Italian offering, while the bread had a crispy exterior and the soft interior, the stretchy attribute was missing, I have had similar breads that actually have that pull apart nature.

The thin crust pizza was highly appreciated, Hand rolled 12″ Thin crust, it was a bliss for pizza lovers like me.

The Slow Braised Lamb Chops were extra ordinary, the lamb was coming out of the bone so easily and the flavors of pepper and tomato based sauce were complementing it beautifully.

We also had the opportunity of trying out Chef’s Special menu with Chicken in a tomato and wine based sauce. The tender bite sized pieces of chicken and the tangy sauce made for a perfect fit.

With the Truffle Mushroom Risotto I sampled another wine, Danzante Pinot Grigio, a light minerally taste it is probably the best White i have had till date!
The Mushroom risotto was delectable, 3 types of mushrooms in a creamy risotto preparation with a Parmesan crisp on the top.

We ended our meal with a sinful Chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream, while the brownie wasn’t really special, it was overall a sweet ending to the Evening.

The fine ambience and the elaborate collection of wines will surely attract any wine connoisseur and the great food makes this place stand out in the market dominated by Breweries!
