Striking a chord of nostalgia with Lazeez Affaire

`Life has taken a full turn and I am Lazeez Affaire once again, Yes back in 2013 this was the only restaurant in the area and we used to come here for family dinners a lot, yes it is one of the oldest Restaurants in Delhi.
The interiors have been revamped, the parking area has changed and interiors have been tuned to give a more neutral atmosphere. The white spic and span walls and the yellow lights give a satisfying feel. The table decor also gives you a very posh impression.

We started our meal with Lemon Grass Chicken Tikka and Fish Tikka. The starters here were good, I won’t say extraordinary but good.

The Lemon grass Chicken Tikka was soft and succulent though the lemon grass flavors were slightly on the lower side, whereas the Fish Tikka was a mix match, very well marinated Sole fish and but some pieces were really delectable, some a little under cooked.

Bhatti ka Paneer

We also had the Mushroom Galauti and Dahi ke kebab. While the Dhai ke Kebab weren’t anything special. But the Mushroom Galauti stole the show, really soft kebab on ulte tawe ka parantha. The quality of the Parantha could be improved though. Next up was the Bhatti ka paneer. Huge chunks of paneer with a tandoor sauce in between and served on a sizzler plate. A tandoori dish but nothing extra ordinary.

In the Non Vegetarian mains we had Fish Curry, Butter Chicken and Mutton Rogan Josh.
The Butter Chicken was the best out of the lot had very balanced flavours, a bit of spice and a bit of sweet. The gravy could have been creamier though. Mutton Rogan Josh was a slightly off dish, while the Mutton was a perfectly cooked the gravy wasn’t up to the mark. It lacked the delicate flavors of Rogan Josh was giving the feel of an influence of mutton curry. The Fish Curry was another standout, mustard oil, rai and flavors of Indian spices were predominant and a really well cooked fish.

I loved the Vegetarian dishes, while the Dal Makhini lacked the consistency the flavors were absolutely perfect and even the Kadhayi Paneer, huge pieces of Paneer with slightly tangy thick gravy with bell peppers and onions.
Another dish was the Corn palak, while the contrast was amazing, Palak is a seasonal vegetable thus the flavours can’t be really spot on, but never the less, if you are a fan you can very well go ahead and order.

We tried the Kulfi’s too and the Paan kulfi was exceptional, The paan flavours were very well balanced in the Kulfi.

Overall this Restaurant has an edge over the others because of its name, the food could improve on any aspects though. It isn’t the best restaurant because of the immense competition but an old Delhite will always remain loyal.
