#Pirated at Nehru Place Social

Social Offline is growing by leaps and bounds and their recent launch in Delhi is the Nehru Place Social at the newly revamped Epicuria Food Mall. Like all other Social Offline outlets around the city, this one too borrows from the main market of Nahru Place. Go back fifteen years and find the place papered with pamphlets offering print jobs, cheap tech stuff and graphic jobs. They have also borrowed from Delhi Metro and the fact that Epicuria is one of a kind Food Mall and has caught on with its  first floor opening its doors to big brands. Just as its predecessors, this social too catches your eye with its quirky ambiance – chairs and tables hanging from the ceiling, a band-wallah where the DJ stands and primitive monitors and CPUs used as planters. The main attraction is the set of circular swings which looks fancy as hell but gives you a slight head shot after an hour’s meal 😛

The menu is a refreshing mix of Social classics, desi favourites from Social Chhat and the additions from Odeon Social. We started with one of the classics – toblerone shake and it was just as good as always.

Next up was, Pulled Tandoori Chicken Makhani Bao – the Baos came with green apple chutney, fryums and a fresh salsa salad. The baos were delightfully soft, with succulent tandoori chicken tossed in rich, creamy makhani gravy.

Kerala coin paranthas – coin size paranthas with minced chicken topped with dry coconut, laal maas and crumbled paneer. The paranthas were just decent ad the toppings could have been much more flavoursome.

Prawn sesame on toast – minced prawn smeared on a crispy toast and topped with crunchy sesame seeds, the hint of lemon grass made this simply tantalizing.

For mains we got our hands on Spaghetti aglio olio which was the tiffin introduced at Odeon Social. The pasta came in a dabba and a side of garlic bread. The bread was nothing special. The spaghetti was done al dente but the rawness of aglio olio was sort of lost with the addition of cheese and lots of it.

Thai thali – chicken in green curry, fragrant rice, crispies, raw papaya salad and goan prawn pickle. A heavy metal bottom thali with well done rice and Thai green curry with just the right flavors. The use of lemongrass in this place has been impressive as they do it just right. Also, the prawn pickle is ingenious – couldn’t get enough of that or the exhilarating raw papaya salad.
